PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR ELDERLY AT HOME
How Can Physiotherapy For Elderly At Home Help?
As we get older, everyday movement can become harder. Reduced strength, stiff joints, poor balance and a loss of confidence after an illness, fall or hospital stay can all make it difficult to stay independent. Our physiotherapy for elderly at home brings expert, one-to-one rehabilitation directly to your door, so older people can recover and stay active without the stress of travelling to a clinic.
Home physio for elderly patients is tailored to each person’s needs and delivered in familiar surroundings. Treatment focuses on rebuilding strength in the legs and core, improving balance and walking, easing pain and stiffness, and restoring the confidence to move safely around the home. For many older people, physio at home for elderly care is the gentlest and most effective route back to independence.
Who can benefit from elderly physio?
We provide expert physio for elderly people across Haywards Heath and the surrounding villages, helping you or your loved one stay safe, steady and confident in everyday movement. Our home visits are ideal for those who find it hard to travel or simply prefer to be treated in their own home.
Older adults who feel unsteady, have lost strength, or have become less confident moving around the home
People recovering from a fall, fracture, hip or knee replacement, stroke or a long hospital stay
What does a home physio assessment involve?
Your first visit is a thorough, unhurried assessment carried out in your own home. We take time to understand your medical history, your goals and the challenges you face day to day, then assess your strength, balance, mobility and home environment to build a personalised plan. The aim of our physio at home for elderly patients is to promote independence, reduce the risk of falls, manage pain and improve overall quality of life.
This type of home-based assessment is especially valuable for the elderly and for old people who find travelling difficult or who prefer to remain in familiar, comfortable surroundings while receiving expert care.
Frequently asked questions
Can physiotherapy really help an elderly person at home?
Yes. Physiotherapy for elderly at home is one of the most effective ways to rebuild strength and balance after illness, a fall or surgery. A tailored programme of gentle, progressive exercises can restore mobility and confidence at any age.
Do you provide physio at home for elderly patients who can’t travel?
Absolutely. All of our elderly physio is delivered one-to-one in your own home, so there is no need to travel. This is ideal for older people with limited mobility or those who feel more at ease in familiar surroundings.
Will my elderly relative need special equipment?
Most home physio for elderly patients needs little or no special equipment — we work with what you have and use everyday items where helpful. Where aids such as walking frames or grab rails would help, we will advise you.
What makes your elderly home physio different?
Every plan is personal. We combine hands-on physiotherapy with education, strength and balance work and practical advice, and we keep families informed throughout so your loved one is fully supported between visits.
What our clients are saying

Thanks to Lizzi at The Well Balanced Centre, who supported her with great patience and kindness, she is once again able to get out of bed and walk around the house using her frame.
Lizzi has helped her maintain her mobility and has also given her the motivation to keep up her exercises independently between visits.
Our family are very grateful to Lizzi and I can highly recommend her.

Thank you.

moving and taught me about the importance of balance and how to improve that. I now have useful practical tips and ideas to continue improving my movement and balance going forward. You were encouraging and professional. I would wholeheartedly recommend you to others.

We’re so grateful.

I would recommend her without a moments hesitation. Janet Gange

I was recommended post surgery physio treatment and fortunately contacted The Well Balanced Centre.
Now 6 months on, I cannot stress enough the importance of having Lizzi from Well Balanced Centre in weekly attendance.
With her support and encouragement the goal became much clearer both pyhisically and mentally. Daily exercises were both enjoyable, rewarding and confident restoring. I will certainly continue with Lizzi's services until I feel fully recovered. In addition Lizzi has been most helpful in chasing follow up appointments. Meanwhile I am back dog walking, cycling, travelling abroad and boat servicing in preparation for next year !

Lizzi is an excellent physio and really good at communicating clearly and effectively with elderly patients with hearing and cognitive difficulties. I would highly recommend her.

We thoroughly recommend Lizzi as an empathetic, skilful physiotherapist and would have no hesitation in calling on her services again.

After a 7 week stay in hospital, my Mum who has advanced dementia, sadly lost the ability to walk. Upon discharge we had to move her into a Nursing home but were determined to do everything we could to rehabilitate her and give her back quality of life. Lizzi came to us highly recommended and right from day 1 she made such a positive impact. She engaged Mum with sensitivity, patience and kindness and also showed a demonstrable understanding of dementia and quickly built a rapport with not only Mum but us as a family - involving us in her treatment sessions. For a couple of sessions she also brought her colleague, Jason, to support in some stand-aid activities and every step of the way, consulted us and discussed options and the practical realities and constraints of a patient with dementia. A true professional, it was a pleasure to work with Lizzi and we are very grateful for the support she gave us.
